Just Adding a Sub
Just Adding a Sub
I've decided to unhook my 8" stock sub and install one of these:

JL Audio 10W6

Problem is I have been searching around the forum, and seem a bit confused. I am only adding a sub, everything else will be stock. I read a great tutorial on how to run the power cable from the battery.
How exactly do I hook up an aftermarket amp to the Acura TL 2005? From what I have read the TL has no RCA's on the head unit.
How do I get audio signal to the amp? How about on/off signaling from the head unit?

Need to get a Line output converter (LOC), you hook the stock wires to it and it gives you RCA out. Then hook RCA's to that to your new amp. For the remote wire, i used the add a circuit method. It hooks into a blank fuse location under the driver side dash and run to the remote turn on to the amp.
Search around, then info's out there.

Yeah, I did some searching around but didn't quite find what I was confused about. It seemed as if everyone already knew what you told me, and was building a system without mentioning these basics.
I'll run a search for a LOC, I hope they are cheap. Ill look into "adding a circuit". Seems like a good alternative. I assume it on/off's the amp by providing power when the ignition starts and cutting it when the key is off.

Yea, the LOC's run about $20 and higher, i just picked mine up from advanced auto parts and it works like a charm. With the "add a circuit" route, as long as the key is in the accessory position, your amp will turn on.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
