I read on another forum where the iSimple has sometimes does not allow incoming calls when hooked up to an iPhone through the HFL. Anyone out there use an iSimple with an iPhone, specifically iPhone4? Does the HFL work well with the iPhone hooked up via iSimple?

Just got and installed the ISIM71, I have a non-navi Canadian model (so no XM button) and couldn't be happier! I have full functionality (including display).

Install took literally 5mins, I didn't remove any panels, just pulled the carpet half down and used a wooden chopstick to snake it in there (Canadian models don't have the XM harness but we still have the XM plug at the back of the radio). Just lined up the isimple harness plug to the back of the radio and used a chopstick and snapped it in. That's it.

However, the harness and the unit is still lying on the drives side floor (haven't had time to make it clean yet, but plan on using double sided tape to attach somewhere and snaking the ipod cable through to the glove box).

I'm thinking of trying the usa spec. recently had two different isimple units and three sets of harnesses but was unable to make it work. everytime I hooked it up it would just lock the navi screen while vertical lines ran up the navie screen. called isimple and unable to figure out the problem. ended up sending it back.

It's plug and play.
It is NOT compatible with the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, 5.
It's not compatible with iPod touch 3 and later.

BASICALLY, if it is on iOS 4+, it WILL NOT WORK.

Hey guys,

My friend works @ USA Spec. I directed him to the thread and he looking into the glitches people speak of. He did say that the "PA15 HON3" is the best unit for the 3g. I also asked him about a group buy, manufacture direct and he is open to it.

If you are interested, let me know so I can get the pricing put together. You would pay the manufacture direct via pay-pal, no middle man.

That's a good video. I've been using USA Spec adapters for about 6 years now and I'd forgotten it could do a couple of those things like skip forward and backward. That comes in handy when I'm listening to podcasts and want to skip past commercials.

The USA Spec PA15-HON3 is one of the best mods I've done so far… absolutely no trouble with it, either. Can't recommend it enough.

Same here I LOVE MINE. I used the install video and completed the whole job in less than an hour and that included warming my care up to make the plastic more elastic.

Hey just looking for an update. How have these been working out?

I have a non-navi 06 and iphone 4S/4. Which model would work best, a PAC ISHD571 or PA15-HON3?

I have it and it's great. I have an iPhone 5 and it works fine.. I just had to buy a 15 pin to 30 pin adapter to make it work. I only play my Spotify playlists and it's buggy from time to time.. it might just be Spotify. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied as it charges my iPhone while I'm in the car and lets me control the songs through the steering wheel controls.

It is still rocking it helps to have multiple play lists setup, for example i have 45 gigs of music so playlists would make this easier. Though when it is in direct mode there is no issue either. XM still works, Cd works, I was able to install it without pulling the whole unit out so i am happy

Use the video i did, if you have smaller hands it should be easy. I have sausage fingers and got the job done just make sure the connector "clicks" I also ran errands in my car for about an hour to heat up the plastic in my car and everything went smooth good luck man you will love it

The sound quality of USA-SPEC PA15-HON3 sounds pretty damn good in my car, a lot better than isimple in my opinion.

I got my iSimple from Circuit City (shows how long ago I purchased it). It has been great though and still works fine after all these years. The search for an iPod solution is what brought me to acurazine so actually it has cost me thousands of dollars lol

so im new to the TL scene, been searching and reading all these threads about the usa spec and isimples,

first off mine is a 08 TL-s canadian model, i order the usa spec PA15 ACU xl then found out they dont work in the cdn models, so had to send it back, basically i want my ipod to operate like it would on the u.s model cars with the PA15 ACUxl,

now i know its more of a personal opinion when it comes to sound, but is there any fellow cdns on here that have installed either the isimple or the pa15 hon3 on there 07-08 tl-s and whats ur thought on both??

Dude, don't sweat it the install is pretty easy just take your time. If you don't have any trim removal tools I'd recommend spending a few bucks on some. I think walmart even sells a little kit. No need to risk scratching up or gauging your trim pieces. GL!

Should be arriving from Amazon today Only thing I'm worried about is the possible cracking of plastic due to cold weather. Guess i can run the heater for a bit to soften things up.

I just installed my PA15 Hon3 a couple weekends ago, and the sound quality is great (way better than the cassette adapter that compressed the bass and treble).

Anyway, it was about 40 degrees out when I installed mine, so I just took the time to slide back the center console (under the arm rest) to avoid bending that panel. It's really not too bad...just pop off the metal trim piece on the passenger side too, unscrew the 2 screws at the front attaching near the shifter and the 2 screws in the bottom of the console (under the rubber mat). Having all that apart also made it easier to route the cables back to that same area so I can rest my iphone on the cup holder cover.

In addition to the YouTube videos on how to do this (they seem to skip a lot of steps for me), here's something I wrote a few months back that provides more info on the installation.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/isimple-installation-hints-876690/

I personally installed the iSimple ISHD571 (from Amazon for under $100 new) and I'm content with sound quality when using both the iPOD cable and the AUX cable. However, I was tempted to buy the PA15-HON3, but decided not to because some people said USA Spec models had issues with randomly restarting the navi. Is that an issue with the HON3?
