iSimple Issue

Ok I have installed a new Isimple PAC ISHD71 into my 06 navi. Once it is connected the "XM" button becomes non operational. pushing it does nothing. If i remove the harness and plug the XM connector back into the HU when I tap the button XM is activated. If I reinstall the Isimple harness the button becomes inactive again. It must be the harness I am thinking? It wont even pass thru to the XM.

Of all things that should have been plug and play! Does anyone have any ideas?

You can try going to the audio screen by pressing the Audio button below the nav screen and then pressing the FM button followed by the XM button; then scroll through your iSimple inputs using the rotory tuning knob on the radio. You should see the inputs change on the Nav screen (Aux1, Aux2, Sat, iPod); for XM stop on the Sat position and wait a few seconds for control.

Hope I understood your problem and that this helps.

The problem is that once connected the XM button becomes non responsive. There is no way to proceed to being able to select other inputs. I am at a loss.

Update, I removed and reinstalled the device, taking it apart to the circuit board to do a manual reset by discharging the capacitors. Re connected it and it works perfectly. I think it has to do with the order in which the cables are connected on the first initialization of the device. All is good!

Good news!

That was to be my next suggestion, honestly. I once had to do the same thing with mine to correct a similar problem. The iSimple customer support tech directed me to do the same capacitor discharge procedure. It seemed to me to be an overly difficult process just to do a power cycle / reset; less than user friendly.
