Interior lights...what is better?
hey,
What type of LED light would is better (brightness, even light distribution, longlasting) to use for the map, dome and door lights of my TL-08...
1) The flat panels that contain 6 or 12 leds, and seem to be wired?
or
2) the plug and play wedge compressed LED lights that are compressed into a circular pattern?
just want to make the right choice before I buy
thanks for any tips. D

I have the 12 LED wedge bulbs and I am happy.
I have not seen the board LEDs, but I presume they would cure a minor issue I've noticed with the wedge bulbs where the wedges throw their light in the wrong direction. The front domes point the bulbs toward the doors, where the rear domes point down, making a much brighter light "throw".

thats a great tip,
I thought that could happed with the wedge lights; the panel boards seem more predicatable as to how the light is "thrown"...
Are 12LED's too bright? was thinking about a 6LED panel
any other thougths...

LEDs are waaay better.
this was my previous setup after replacing the stock bulbs to 3SMT LEDs:
but now, I currently have 24s on mine. looking to upgrade to brighter ones if they'd fit:
compared with a stock bulb:

my trunk has the same 24-LED as well:

That is some impressive light. I thought mine were bright until I saw this. As I mentioned, with the boards throwing light from all 24/30 LEDs in the same direction, you get ALL of the light where you want it. That code at V-LEDs worked for a 15% discount for me. Jeez, looks like I gotta close my Paypal account for the better good of my finances.

I got my 12 led boards on Ebay, from JLED??? i think. Something like that. JDAM perhaps. Anyway, same thing as the above pics. I've tried a few different LED's. Single LED's are slightly brighter than stock, circular pattern multiple LED's are only marginally better, but the boards are definitely the way to go. I currently have blue LED's (12 LED boards) and they are quite nice, and I have 4 sets of red ones that I'm going to try out. Here's a tip. Go to your local (gay) crafts shop and get some styrofoam, cut it into a shape to fit the space, and glue in place, then tape your led boards to them.

Just got my TL last month and this was the first thing I did to it. I ordered all of them in White or Natural White:
License plate:
Product: 921-x9 Wedge Base LED bulb
Dome/map lights
Product: WLED-x6 LED bulb
Door:
Product: T13-x6 Wedge Base LED bulb
My car isn't as bright as the one above, but the 6 LED bulbs are far brighter and much better looking than the stock bulbs. I ordered from superbrightleds.com and would highly recommend them. I'll try to take some pictures this week.

Great tips, hot pics. thanks.
Board or panel lights will be my choice.
V-Led with discount code.
Hyper white or equivalent, 12 LED/board
Blue 12LED for the doors.
194 is the size number.
Will consider the other lights later.
what else? Cheers D

the license plate and reverse lights use the same sockets too (194), just fyi. but you probably need brighter ones for the reverse.

^ that's only one of those 24 5050 LEDs compared to the four 24 standard LEDs that I have (below)

Socket 194 will do the trick for all interior light, and you say it's also the same for the license plate light? I'm definitely going to do this asap. Bear with me though, as I stated, I'm slow
Also: What color is that considered? White? Some type of blue?

Ok, so let me get this straight because I'm slow.

the main difference is, in stock form, the reverse lights use a higher watt bulb. the common feature they all share though, is that the wedge base of the bulbs is the same (194).
for example, if you bought a pair of 194 LED bulbs, you can test fit one of those bulbs to go on the door light, in the vanity light, in one of the front domes, in one of the rear domes, in the license plate and in the reverse.
heck, the bulb for the trunk is also a 194 type socket.buy 7 pairs of 194 LEDs and you'll cover all the lights and have one extra left.

TL interior lights = socket 194
I love these pics you guys post. They show how bright these lights look.
Too many of the posts I've read are blurry pics or photoshop bright lights (on ebay for example).
the 30 LED panel look nice and bright, but I fear it is too bright for the interior...think about it...30 LED panel x 4 (two domes and two maps), and that will 120 LED light intensity! My leather is parchment so it is rather light in colour and would reflect most of the light.
I'd be able to grow plants in my TL!
So maps, domes, vanity, reverse, doors, are socket 194.
I imagine the licence place, and glove box lights are smaller wedge light bulbs...
thanks again, D

the license plates use the same ones you could put in the four domes, vanity and the door lights.
the glove box and the armrest lights are smaller wedge lights (T5 i believe). ill take a pic of the bulb I have for my armrest/glove box.

Both of these lights need the 194 Wedge type bulbs. I used these for my domes:
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168719.html
and these for my license plate:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p4481133.html
The dome panels are much better than the 12LED Wedge bulbs I was using in the front because the panels fire down. The wedges fired toward the rear of the car. They are fine for the rear domes, since the bulbs are angled to fire down in those.
I was unsure about the license plate bulbs when I received them---they didn't look like they would be very bright. Once I installed them, I was satisfied with them---very bright white light.
BTW, I used these for my backup lights:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/P...-p5682764.html
and they are nice, but I may look for something a little brighter in the future.
