Installing NAVI price

How much would you think the dealer would cost to install a NAVI on a non-navi 3G TL? If I am not mistaken the Navi cost an extra 1-1.5k more than a non-navi and whether I can buy it and install it separately with some professional help (or buy one from Tim)

Fairly certain that a dealer will not install it due to liability. The cost of the parts new is also a huge issue. Those that have done the conversion have found a donor car or a source like ebay. Installation is DYI or find a good local radio installer.

I wold probably just buy a good portable or have a carputer installed.

Here is a starter thread for you. Take it from there. Look in the navigation section.

Trade the car in for a similar with navi option... prolly more cost effective and less headache. Also, if you chose to go through with it, try to see if you can get someone from the dealer to do side work. That'll always be cheaper.

From looking around it varies from $1300-2000

You can buy a custom made kit on Ebay, the guy takes an OE navi unit and custom makes a harness that is plug and play. He charges $2000 and it makes it a lot easier to install than try to fab everything yourself.

If you have any skill there is enough info here and enough members who have done the swap that are willing to help you could do it yourself.

I bought the drive, display, subdisplay, gps, and most of the connectors / harnesses off of a member here on AZ for $550.

I still need the 07 xm receiver, new 07 HFL (if I really want phonebook importation), steering wheel buttons, and mounting hardware. But I should be able to find those reasonably cheap. I have a couple months till I will do this anyways so I can hunt for deals. But from what I've seen I should be able to find the xm receiver reasonably cheap on ebay etc.

Hah, yea. Well that's for 07/08 stuff too (I want NavTraffic). I didn't bargain with him, it was his price.

But there is a guy here selling the display, subdisplay, and drive for 400 shipped right now (all 04-06 parts). So it's not like you can't find deals...

Thanks for the info, if someone lived near Houston who could this for me, of course I will pay them, it would be great. I have doubts opening my radio and stuff and messing with that kind of stuff. How much you guys think it would cost for someone to install this for me? (shop, person, etc..)

$500-1000?

How much time it takes really depends on how they manage the harnesses. I mean you could gut everything and replace all the harnesses, or you can just "add" the navi wires and run them around the car yourself. That saves a lot of time. As far as I can tell, it's relatively simple.
