Incoming Number display for incoming calls

Just wondering if the "Incoming call" display should show the incoming call phone number on the 2004 Acura TL. Did not know if this is something that I can correct with a setting or not. I have looked at several settings and menu's but cannot find anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?

It depends on whether the caller's information is available, same as on your caller ID at home. Some local carriers don't transmit that info, and some people block it. If no number is transmitted, no number will display. If a number is transmitted, it should appear in the MID.

The numbers are entered into the Phone Book, and show when I call out using Voice Command. But they are not showing when I receive calls. I get the caller id display on any other calls I receive and make.

The number would always show when you dial out, as you have the number programmed. Same thing would happen on any phone that has a display—whenever you dial out, the phone "knows" the number you're calling. But when a call comes in, the phone doesn't necessarily know what the number is if the caller's carrier doesn't send that information (consider at home when a call comes in and it just says "UNAVAILABLE" or "Unknown Number," depending on what your particular phone displays). If the phone doesn't receive a number, then there's nothing for the HFL to send to the MID for display.

That makes sense. But what about Land lines. My home phone shows on my phone when I receive a call from home. It displays the number and the name "Home". But I just remember there was one thing that I did not mention when I started this thread....My phone that is paired with the car is an iPhone 3Gs. Does that make any difference?

From what I have noticed on my 06, if the number is in the car's phonebook, it displays when that phone calls me. If it is not in the car's phonebook, I get the "Incoming Call" on the MID. It doesn't matter what the phone knows, only what the car knows.

I actually paired my wife's LG Vu phone with my TL and it showed the "incoming" call phone number when I called from my home and cell phone. That really makes me think it is something with my iPhone. Not totally sure, but it sure seems that way sense it worked with her phone. Any more suggestions?

This is the case for me as well with a Motorola Z6cx (Verizon Wireless). I routinely forward my home phone to my cell phone, which means the annoying 800-number sales calls get forwarded along with the legitimate stuff. The 800 numbers usually display on the MID, allowing me to ignore the calls. (At home I set my answering machine to intercept those calls and play a busy signal, but that doesn't work when the phone is forwarded.)

Well I am pretty determined that it is something with my iPhone 3Gs not sending the display to the car phone book, since it worked with my wife's phone with no problem as soon as I paired it. Is there anyone else that has the iPhone 3Gs that is not getting incoming numbers to show??
