I do have a complete set of 3way Esotar2's, And someday may change, but for now its not happening. The 430, is almost on PAR with the Phass, Micro-Percision, & the ZR, and a few other DIY home ref drivers. The later 3, like Hi-End amps, are reference grade components where instrument grade percision measurements are made to achieve higher standards. Its the same differences with amps the rewards are smaller but under certain conditions higher more precise conditions can be achieved, My experience has shown
me achieving some of these levels in car audio is like watching you wallet spin out of control into an abyss..... but for now the alimony's not that bad and Cuban cigars are still affordable, so what else can you burn it on.
Mark,

Do you prefer the 2.1 sound with a center channel?

I'm starting to question how much power I actually need on the midbass since I high pass at 95hz.
wow.. I remember when you were running ID Ctx's with old JL amps... Now two HD 900/5's, Mcintosh and DYN esotars.. This hobby is a sickness for sure.

No doubt. I just keep adding one more component at a time, never really meaning to upgrade, it just seems to happen. The Dyns were the beginning of it, once I got a taste of the high end stuff I was hooked. Right now I just want to be done though. The install is fun but I'm tired of searching for the right gear and tweaking stuff. I've got one more amp to buy and the midranges and I'm done.....for good lol.

When you run a center with 2.1, does the center get time-aligned to mesh with the L/R? (sorry IHC for off-topic question) Ive never been in a car with a good aftermarket system that used a center, so I have no frame of reference. There are a few big competitors near me, but they all just do 2-way front and sub.

The center does get TA'd but there are different ways to integrate the center. I believe the MS8 takes common info between L+R for the center but it's not a summed L+R signal. Or it might be the opposite, any info that's not common between L+R goes to the center.

Its totally more trouble than its worth and the money is way out of wack, You need a few DC ref amp & regular amp and also a DSP , way to much shit, If your really into the Home Theater thing and thats important to you then do it, Otherwise, you just like audio-music, then a solid 2 channel w/sub will be the best, The tuning on such a difficult system is ongoing beyond belief. 2 ch + sub keeps me busy enough.
