IGN Meter fuse blowing/ stereo no sound
IGN Meter fuse blowing/ stereo no sound
I wrote a crazy good write up for this then my phone died and erased it all so here's the short and sweet version. Car is a 2006 TL 3.2L.
Fuse Issue:
Check your hid ballasts by unplugging them. It stopped the IGN Meter fuse from blowing all the time. Got new ballast/hid/ignitor set to fix the problem. Now my gauge cluster, signals, windows and windshield wipers work again.
Stereo no sound issue:
Previous owner used a resistor tied to another wire to signal the factory amp to turn on(stock harness). The REM signal wire (from the aftermarket deck harness) was tapped into some blue wire in the stock side of the harness. It actually worked fine except from some audio interference, until the resistor snapped and fell deep into the dash.
What's funny is I didn't need that resistor at all. Just tied the REM wire from the aftermarket harness to the Factory Amp turn on in the stock harness (Red with Yellow stripe). Boom the door speakers work again with no interference. I also run my aftermarket sub REM line from that same connection. Such a simple fix I managed to gloss over it for days, but hopefully I can save you all some time.
Side Notes:
- There is a resistor you will need to get navigation working when you have an aftermarket deck. Also the stock subwoofer apparently get's jumped somehow. But I don't care about either of those things so I've left well enough alone. This was one of my go to youtube videos for info.

Update
UPDATE: Fuse 21 (IGN Meter) was NOT blowing from the HID headlights. For some reason after I unplugged them it stopped, but after a week it started up again.
HERE is the real reason the fuse kept blowing. The previous owner had an aftermarket backup camera installed, and at some point removed it (cut it out). BUT they left all of the wiring that was spliced into the reverse lights. So every time I put the car into reverse it was grounding on the frame and blowing IGN Meter Fuse #21. Only reason I didn't notice is the wiring was tucked away under the carpet, and it was intermittent when it first started.

Appreciate you coming back to close out the loop, definitely an annoying problem, but glad you got it resolved!
