If you've modded the lights around the nav console

..............please post a pick, and a how to? ive searched a bunch of different terms and end up seeing a bunch of posts on the courtesy lights, trunk lights, etc etc...

my car is off warranty now, and the lights behind the buttons are dim, i want to swap them out for LEDs, blue LEDS, or if that's not possible i want a bright light and just overlay it with a blue film (as stillhere suggested).

can someone please direct me to the right link? or just show me how it's done?

if you dont want to post a link or tell me how it's done at least please post a pic of it

thanks!

ive done it on a ton of cars just not on the tl.....its very very tedious depending on the setup....on the tl I know some buttons are illuminated by actualy mini bulbs that are twisted into the switch other have it soldered on to a board and are LEDs.....again its super tedious... unless u have experience soldering with a magnifying glass or a super small mini tip like needle to solder i wouldnt do it.

ahh well done there u go...... best bet with the bulbs is get a rubber cover for them to illuminated the color u want because they dont make ones that are aftermarket for that...or another thing i was thinking about was breaking the bulbs soldering the conductive ends to the led platform (because LEDs that size are super small and square) and then gluing it down to the original base of the bulbs there s afew ways to go about it and now im gonna go play with it lmao!

hmm...this is depressing, i was really hoping to be able to milk out the whole BLUE theme on the buttons.

So there is no way to change these bulbs?

Are the OFF and DUAL buttons suppose to be lit? If they are, mine are out... was hoping I could change them.

Maybe if I punch the dash hard enough they will turn on.

Man, it's so stupid they would make it so difficult to change. Every Honda/Acura I've had I always have a couple lights go out in the center console.

If you search on the forum you'll find some DIY to remove all console parts and that way you could get to replace the LED....

Taking me 5 minutes now !!! :P

EDIT: I'll have to remove my dash for some minor install tonight I'll do a DIY video for the GARAGE cause to many people are asking HOW TO REMOVE THE DASH!!

Mind posting a link? I can only find two threads about "console lights" -- this one and another thread which doesn't have a DIY.

I think the bigger issue, based on what I've read, is that the LEDs are soldered onto a board and not just ones you can pull out and replace. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'd really like to fix this problem.

the lcd's have leds as well as some of the gauge cluster....all the buttons use mini-bulbs.

So they aren't soldered onto a circuit board or something crazy? Are they actual bulbs that can be removed?

I can't find anywhere in the service manual that covers taking apart the climate control area.

anyways, i think that they are probably soldered in, but you just have to remove it and then re solder in the LEDs.
