Ok so after a BIG misunderstanding with my finance company and my payments I got my car repossessed. Anyway after fighting legally with them I got my car back and everything seemed great. Boy was I wrong... The repo company that took my car decided to up and jack my Navi Disk out of the trunk so now Im without one. I tried to call and get it back because they had originally told me that any left property would be kept and they would call for me to come pick it up. Well I called them up and asked what had happened to it and the repo guy was all surprised that I got it back and proceeded to ask how I did it. I told him it was none of his business and that I needed the CD back. He then proceeded to tell me that any property left in there was considered abandoned and that it wasnt his responsibility. I then told hime that it wasnt personal property and that it was actually a piece of the car that was needed for it to work properly. But nothing... I then called up my lawyer for them to deal with it in which case they he tells them that it wasnt in the car to begin with. Soooo long story short, the lawyer wants $800 for me to fight them, or I could pay like $300 for a new disk... My obvious decision was to just buy a new disk but $300 just seems a little step. Anyone know of anyways of getting one cheaper or something. fml I need this fixed... it just sucks not being able to use my navi screen at all!!!

They have a few older versions on e-bay but they are WAY over priced.

On your issue with the repo man, try taking them to small claims court. It is cheaper that what your lawyer wants to charge and although you probably won't get the DVD back from them, it is the principle of the fact that they can't take stuff out of cars that are not theirs. I had to do that when I was in a accident and the towing company thought my Honda was totaled. It wasn't and when I got it back, they had taken my amp and subwoofer out of the trunk. I made a police report for stolen property before I took possession of the car and took them to small claims court. The worst that can happen is you waste a half day in court but at least you didn't let them run over you.

I feel your pain but it's more of a hassle and expense to fight the case than just buy a new disc especially if its only $149.

 

True... I think that Im just gonna cough up the cash and get an updated version for that price. I can handle that. As for the the repo-man a-hole, maybe i should slash his tires for my trouble or something... lol Thanks guys for all your help!!!
