I just got back from the 2005 CES...
...and I thought some of you may be interested in the following tidbits.
XM and Panasonic were there in force. XM had a 2005 RL on display, and Panasonic had a Panasonic/ELS display with a TL (didn't look to see if it was 2004 or 2005).
I spoke with the ELS spokesperson, and asked him about my primary gripe with my 2004 TL's sound system. Before I had a chance to continue, he interrupted and asked "you mean the rattles?"
Actually, I meant the lack of an elegant iPod interface to the TL (or at minimum a line in for the Navs). I doubt Panasonic/ELS can do anything about the rattles. He said that ELS was "working on an iPod interface for the TL," but a solution is "at least a few years away." I don't know how acurate that information is, but that's what he stated.
He also gave me a 'new' sample DVD-A that he said was shipping with new TLs. I didn't know there was a 'new' one available (can't recall a post about it), but it was a nice freebie.
It has different songs than the one that came with my 2004 TL, and includes Marvin Gaye, O fortuna, and Faith Hill, to name a few.
Monster was there as well to show off their iCruze. But alas, as mentioned by others, the Monster representatives said that 3G TL w/Nav owners were out of luck.
There were lots of wired/wireless adapters from various companies. Griffin (IIRC) showed off a new cassette adapter that plugs into the top of the iPod (via the headphone out and remote control port), and allows you to FF/REW/PL/ST via your radio's controls.
Some pics of the show to follow.
