How well is Wendy's backup camera holding up?
A number of you guys bought Wendy's eBay camera a few months back, and I was wondering how satisfied are you with them and how are they holding up over time?

no problem since I applied some silicone sealant between the lense and the housing.
the ring around the lense (not the housing) did change color from black to bronze, it did not affect anything.

Mine is going strong after 2 months. I've sealed the edges of the camera with silicon, like kennyc suggested, to protect against condensation. So far, so good.

This thread was hijacked and was headed in another direction. I have moved all posts regarding lines on Dom's unit to this thread: Faint Lines with Dom's TVandNav2Go. You can continue that discussion there.

Super small backup camera from Wendy
I have had mine working for almost 3 weeks. It has been in 4 days worth of rain; freeway driving. I did not use any silicon around the lens as the camera I purchased from Wendy had the water resistant and dust resistant codes in the documents. Only issue is when it is raining the picture is a little distorted cause of the water drops on the lens. It servers it purpose and I am happy with the unit.

I wonder if some rain-x or some other water repellent type would be ok to put on the lens. I noticed in an 07 i drove in the rain that the same thing would occur. It would fog/smear due to the water droplets.
I suppose i should be asking if any chemicals such as these could potentially damage the camera lenses, or cause other such problems. If not the anti-fog and water repellent treatments could be great!
take care

Mine's going strong for over a year now... I didn't bother to put silicone on the lens, but I am very careful with the water back there. NO HIGH PRESSURE SPRAYER around the license plate...

my camera, from wendy, had been running fine until a few days back. the color/exposure all of a sudden just turned really bright and is practically un-viewable. not sure if this just means I need to swap out the camera. anyone else have this problem?
any help is appreciated

Had to repair RCA cable
Just a head's up for everyone:
I got my camera from Wendy and installed almost a year ago. It was working fine until Sunday when I noticed no picture. After pulling the trunk apart and checking everything, I discovered a cut in the video cable just where it goes into the yellow RCA jack. I cut it off and spliced with a new RCA cable and it's back up and running. Since the cable was inside the trunk hinge (underneath the black plastic) I can only assume opening and closing was stressing the cable and broke it.

I bought my over a year ago. Last 3 months some times I get a picture when I put it into reverse and some times I don't. I thought it was the DOM switch box. Do you think it's the camera itself? All my wire connections are good.

Plug the video cable from the camera into a TV video input, and/or the DOM's cable into a VCR/DVD output and stay playing. With the engine off, turn on the key and put the car into reverse. If you see a picture on the TV, the camera is working, If you see your DVD/VCR video on the navi screen, the DOM's unit is working..

06TL/Navi Backup camera Needed
OK, I've searched the forum for an hour and can not find a thread giving me instructions how to 1. install a backup camera (no DVD), 2. can't find where to find Wendys camera, if that is still the place to get it, 3. also want to install a switch to toggle betrween navi and camera.
Can someone show me the way?
thanks
