Lightbulb How to reset the Handsfree system in 2004 TL?

I was trying to pair my iPhone with my 2004 TL and something got screwed up during the pairing process. The Handsfree system is stuck in the PAIR mode and refuses to give up. I had hoped it would have reset itself overnight, but this morning it is still stuck in PAIR mode.

I've tried holding down the button to hang up the call, nothing seems to work.

Any ideas on how to do this? I also checked in the manual, but it doesn't say how to reset the HandsFree system.

Thanks!

Have you had your bluetooth module replaced with the TSB? If not get it replaced...one of the problems with the original bluetooth modules was it would lock you out at random times. You may have already replaced it but if that is not it I just dont know.

I am having the exact same problem. I got a new phone and it hangs up everytime I attempt to pair it. The only way I've found to reset it is to pull the battery cable off the battery.

I've had my original phone paired for a couple of years, so hadn't used pairing in some time. At first I thought it was my new phone, but I tried pairing a couple of different phones with similar results.

It lets me get all the way to putting in the code. My phone prompts me that it has found the handsfreelink TM and asks for the code, acknowledges that it is the correct code...but my car never responds with "A new phone has been found...." The screen hangs up on pairing 0000 and will not release by pressing the end call or talk button, or turning off the key. Additional bad thing is that it causes the radio not to function either because it has been hijacked by the HFL.

I came here to see if there was a simple fix. Is this something that I will need to take it in to the dealership to resolve?

Take it to the dealer, it is a bad unit. Also do not leave your car off from more than 2 days otherwise the faulty unit will drain the battery.
