How Often Does Everyone Actually Use Navigation???

Im just curious if the TL is your daily driver and most people go from home to work or home to school, how often do you need navi. I was just thinking about this today because I've had my car almost a month now and have had no need to use it. I have to go somewhere that I've never been tomorrow so I'll actually put the beauty to use.

I don't need the Navi at all, but it looks good and is pretty convenient to find alternate travel routes and various sites-- restaurants, stores, auto dealerships-- and their phone numbers.

The poll should have one more option, like "weekly," "fairly often" or something between daily and 1x per month, since I use the Navi at least a couple of times a week either to look for a place (today a restaurant, for example, where I will be meeting some people next week) or to confirm a travel route.

I don't USE it often (like put in a destination, etc), but I always like to keep an eye on where I am on the map. I love knowing/having a sense of direction.

I don't use much right now for the navigation feature but I use it everyday for the radio (XM, CD).

Sometimes it really comes in handy when you are on a trip and need to take an alternate route. There was an accident on the freeway and I used it to help me navigate through backroads.

The search-for-places feature I find is useless. Never finds the closest Best Buy and always comes up with a place in a totally different state.

Like others have already said, it looks great to have a screen there.

No offence but paying thousands extra for something just because it looks good seems really silly. I can see buying a body kit because everyone can see that, but the navi is seen only by you and when others enter your car.

Here's another thing.

It looks totally cool, but is it as good as some of the portable navs on the market?
I have very limited experience with nav, but I was driving my friends TSX the other day and he had a portable nav in it. I forgot what brand. It had a really good, almost 3D view of the road. It was almost like driving a video game. Then only views I have seen so far of the TL nav, is the over head view with a little triangle on the map.
I don't have a TL yet, but I would assume there are better views. Otherwise, I think there must be some nice after market nav/stereo system to replace the stereo in the TL.
It's almost embarrassing having a cassette player these days.

^ hahahaha I actually used my cassette player a few mths ago! When we were doing the demo work on our second floor I ripped some sheetrock down and there was a nail in one of the studs with a cassette hanging on it. I was like WTF?? I am nosey so I HAD to listen to it, right then I realized I had a cassette player in my TL, SCORE! It ended up being some threatening messages from someones answering machine but is was super creepy, it was hidden in the wall for years!!!

That was a cool story. I guess it does come in handy.
You could also use it for storage.

I don't need it daily because, after all, Key West isn't very big. However, I do have to travel to Miami occasionally and when I do I'm glad I have it. Besides, like everyone else, I agree that the interior looks classier with it.

I could care less if anyone ever saw my car. I do things for myself. Every time I get in my car to go somewhere, BAM! It looks so good in that dash. Besides, if anyone really cares about what other people see, you're forgetting something. Anyone who looks into the car can see that huge screen in the dash. Almost anyone behind you can see it, and it's totally viable from the side. So if you like to do things that look cool for other people, this is one of them!

Haha... yeah I did it at like 2am and when I woke up this morning I realized that there actually shouldve been and additional choice. Something in between once a mont and once or twice since I got the car thats a pretty big span in between...

Nav use

I use it every day when I drive. It's always on when I'm in the car. A lot of times I'll use it even if I know where I'm going. I drive in traffic a lot and the time to destination is a helpful feature to me to see if I'm going to be early, late or on time for appointments/meetings.

I also like to know if I can take a detour here and there to get around some traffic or just take a different route to places I've been before.

Besides all that it comes standard in a TL-S and it is probably the best OEM nav unit on the market.

I just got back from a trip to Orlando. Stayed in a hotel. Put the addy in and the Navi took us right to it. Wanted to eat Italian. Navi to the rescue. Searched for Italian restaurants in the area and found a Carrabbas only 3 miles away. Navi took me right to it. Had to map back to the hotel, again no problem. Had to go to the international airport so put that in the Navi and away I went. The Navi has saved me time and money on gas!! Great tool

I use it a few times per month. Somtimes, I'll turn it on for the map when I'm in an unfamiliar area. Looking for certain stores, schools, restaurants etc. Comes in quite handy. I love the way it looks and it's a nice big screen too. Only thing I don't like (and it's not Acura's fault) is that my addy is not in the system since my development was built in 05-06. I guess I need to go on and buy the new DVD.

Same here, I voted "once a month" because only once a month I put an address in there, but i always look at the map on the Navi. It's always displaying on Map mode, never audio

I've got kids involved with sports and other local activities and we do a lot of car-pooling the kids around. The NAV is very useful in finding playing fields and team members’ homes.
I love to use it on long trips but I also find it invaluable locally around the neighborhood.

+1 I use that shit everyday! Even if I'm not getting directions from it, I just like the map on just in case I need to make a turn somewhere and need to know how many more blocks so I can anticipate the turn.

And I also know people that even with the nav.. they will ask for directions! I'm not gonna mention names .. but they know who they are if they read this.

I like to leave it on so when I hit a traffic back up I can easily work my way around the problem.

I never realized there was a difference there... 07/08 definitely looks nicer. Not as nice as the Navi though.

I use it from time to time-especially to find specific retail stores in a certain area. I've never used the cassette deck in the year and a month I've had the car. But having Nav adds to the car's resale value.

I use it everyday. Mostly just to see how traffic is since I have the Navtraffic feature through XM. Other than that I know 99% of the time where I need to get to.
