How much power required for 2 ID MAX 15 IB, for max excursion?

Hey everyone I recently bought 2 ID Max 15's and an Alpine PDX M12 amp to power them, which has a birthsheet stating it puts out a max of 1358 RMS. I'm noticing that the subs don't seem to move that much, compared to videos that I've seen online of ID Max's excursion. It's IB so it shouldn't take too much power to make them move, but at the same time I've heard they aren't the most power efficient subs either.

My question is, how much power will be required to allow them to reach their full excursion in IB? I want to get the full potential out of them! Also, will they move more once broken in?

I hate cars might be able to give you a lot more info, same with DIYMA forums.

Here's I hate car's signature which has a similar setup:
Dynaudio182/430/110 2x ID Max15s 2x JL HD600/4, HD750/1

I guess hes running the 750W amp to the 2 ID Max 15"s and using the other amp for the speakers.

It doesn't seem like he's had any recent activity on here, but I appreciate the tip.

I modeled a pair of these in 15cuft sealed.... According to the software (winisd pro alpha) at 20Hz it would take 5000 watts to drive the pair up to their linear excursion limit of 44mm.

Also very IB friendly. Dont need to worry about subsonic filters with those subs or overpowering them. Still would worry about distortion and cooking the coils though.

So I've had the setup for about a month now and it's been sounding great so far. Great SQ and decent spl. I'm a little confused though because if I play the subs pretty loud on the lower frequencies, they tend to give off a bit of a burning smell after ~5 - 10 min of playing when cranked. Is this because they're still being broken in? Excess glue burning off? My gains on the amp are set conservatively. The amp is rated for 1200 watts but I'm not using the full available power.

I bought them brand new a month ago, and I can tell the suspension has loosened up, but only slightly. The subs still barely move, even on the most bass heavy songs and cranked at full volume. Again, I could turn the gain up, but if it's giving off a burning smell, I should probably hold off on that for now. They do give nice output currently, but I know they're capable of so much more. Right now I'd be lucky to see them have 5-10 mm excursion, which is nothing for them.

They currently give about as much output as my previous setup with 2 Sundown SA 12's in a 4 cu. ft ported box, but the sundowns had more dominance in the lower end.

Try smelling the amp and see if you get the sense its coming from there. What size power wires?

Need to locate the source of the smell.

I've got 0 gauge for power and ground. The amp doesn't even get hot after playing the subs. It's hard to tell exactly where the smell is coming from if I stick my head in the trunk lol but I can tell it's not from the amp :/

So its not the amp. I dont know if thats normal for those subs... Possible your pushing distorted power through them when you turn it up? That would heat them up quick.

Hmm yea possibly, but I don't understand how the subs wouldn't be receiving a clean signal from the amp. All the settings on the headunit are zeroed out, such as the bass and subwoofer levels, and the gain is set conservatively :/

Well I am really just guessing but it seems to me those subs would like a lot of clean power to get to the levels you achieved in your old ported setup... Perhaps the amp just cant do it cleanly?
