How loud do you listen to your stock speakers

I was just wondering how loud AZ members listen to their stock speakers. I usually dont like to go above 30 (40 being max). Would the speak rip if I raise the volume up to 35/40? Do you guys use the dolby 5.1 sourround?

I think the highest I ever went is 25 that is only because the stock system isnt something I really want to bump loud. Once I get my system in it might be a different story.

40 except when my wife in the car and then its like 15. The other day i tell her i want a system in the car and she goes "why, you dont even listen to it loud" my quick response was "cuz you always wanna talk and complain how the radio is too loud when your in the car". I then put it to 40 so she can see how i regularly drive and she starts talking but i cant hear her so she lowers it and says " did you hear me". i just laughed.
i still want a system!

Before adding sub and amp: 18-25 depending on the source

After adding sub and amp: 3-12 depending on the source during break in period.

Just installed the system so break in will be about 2 weeks from now, but anywhere between 3-12 is perfect depending on the source and road conditions.

For music, generally between 6 and 10.

For sports/news, maybe 12.

For the HFL, around 15.

I'll post what volume I listen at after break in

Purchased a 12" L7 (Dual 2ohm) and an 850.2 Kicker amp. Self installed on the 15th, I've got it set at 0 gain and 0 Boost and it bumps, still messing with levels, but won't really push it just yet. Got two more weeks 'til break in. Can't wait!

all sources are recorded at different volumes...so there is no true max volume you should listen to it at...

the golden rule of common sense always applies...if it sounds like ass...aka distortion...than turn it down...distortion will kill any speaker of any quality faster than over powering it...

I just got an 08 MDX for a loaner while my TL (05 Nav) was getting some recall work done and I thought there must be something wrong with my TL's system.

I don't consider myself especially tolerant of *really* loud music, but when I get the whim, I regularly turn the system up to around 30 or so, but in the MDX, I can't go much beyond 15 without running myself out of the rig.

Is there something that may be configured differently between the two systems that makes the MDX so much more 'loud', or is the MDX's system that much more powerful?

MDX elite has a 410 watt 10 speaker stereo and the base MDX is like 250 watt 8 speaker (I think)

Base TL is 225 watt 8 speaker ...again I think.

MDX should sound better especially with all the extra power.

What brand or type of speaker and stereo systems do the 04's have in them? Can we add an amp or amps to them?

Thanks for the info. That would explain things a bit, I think- the MDX is the SH-AWD and my '05 TL is, well, like every other '05 TL (there were no options except Nav AFAIK).

I still wouldn't have thought a 225-watt stereo system would need to be turned to 75% of max to even approach what I think most would call "loud", though.

I was also thinking the same. Highest I've turned up the player to is 16. Although, it is winter here and the windows are mostly up right now. Summer will be a different story however. I will be looking forward to having the windows down and the Ipod blasting.

Now to work on that rear deck/windshield rattle....

holy shit, reading all this makes me feel like a damn monk. I listen to mine at like 25 with windows down on the highway. and cruising around the city, 5 and highway with windows up is 15 max. I like to be able to still hear what is going on around me when I am driving. I guess playing it safe. How do some of you still have ear-drums?!

Depending on the audio source (i.e CD, XM, or AM/FM), I listen anywhere from around 15 to around 30. As some have mentioned the subwoofer rattle makes itself known on some music I listen to, so I usually turn it down then.
