How do I find out what version dvd I have?
I bought my 05 TL a month ago and I don't believe it has been updated since. I don't want to spend $185 for 3.80 so I was looking to find a more updated version on ebay.
Can you share the dvd? I was thinking of possibly splitting the cost with a friend or seeing if I can find someone that would let me borrow it for some sort of compensation.

The version number is on the disc itself. You'll need to take the disc out of the player to see what version it is. You might be able to find an updated version on Ebay. Sharing gets kind of dicey-you really don't want to be taking the disc in and out of the player all the time.

When I got my car it didn't come with a disc. Should a certified car from Acura come with a disc. I vaguely remember asking the salesman about it but he just brushed over it and said to go to ebay.
Just for clarification, the disc can be used in multiple cars (sharing)? A good friend of mine that I see everyday might want to split it with me as long as we can both use it. I don't have to keep the disc in the player at all times correct?

Yes, your car should have come with a disc. I would go back to the dealership and absolutely get a disc. If they don't have one, make them order one for you-then you'll get the most updated disc.
And really, I wouldn't share the discs. Mine NEVER comes out of the car. If navigation is important to you (and I think it is, since you bought a TL with navigation, not one without), taking the disc in and out all the time is a hassle. I'm not sure, but I've got to thing it's weird on your system. They are not really designed to be taken out often. Honestly, I would suggest to bite the bullet and just get one. You may be able to find one on Ebay.

the newest release is only available thru acura - who orders them direct from ALPINE
You can look on acura.com/ stores- to see what cities have updates on what version number- there is a list of each years changes so you know if you are affected and should upgrade now
its illegal to copy the nav disc- no ~sharing~ that way, such discussion will get you slapped by the mods
If last years release has your cities updates- those can often be found in the black market section, private sales area here or on the bay
Make sure its the right COLOR disc when buying too
Part of owning a TL is accepting that parts are expensive and do need to be replaced now and then--the nav disc is just a part...get used to it
Spark Plugs are 7 bucks each, the 105k mile service is $1200...tires 100-200 each, runs on premium gas ....brake rotors 100$ each- brake pads 100+

CPO cars from the dealer should have a nav disc, or the thing is useless!!!
You can reasonably ask for the newest disc,,especially if it didnt have one at all!!
Salesmen dont want anything that may take away from their commission
If they dont know about disc- they dont actually know about the cars they sell, go somewhere else
See the Sales Manager and ask why a navi car was sold CPO without a disc
Call acura and let them know,, if the dealer doesnt take care of it right away
