How to Deactivate Alarm System

Does anyone know how to deactivate the alarm system in an 06 TL? I am going on the AutoTrain, and they recommend that this be done or else a dead battery upon arrival in Florida. I could disconnect the battery, but would prefer not to. Thanks.

you shouldn't worry... 'cause there is no shock sensor on the factory alarm... your alarm will NOT be activated... unless someone opens your door, hood or truck forcefully...

Thanks rodneyc77. Come to think of it, when my wife backed her SUV out of the garage and into the front of my car, I just heard the crunch -- no alarm -- so I guess I am good to go.

My '07 TL manual recommends disconnecting the battery if the car is going to be left unused for longer than a week. Perhaps you could just do this.

I travelled on the Auto Train with my TL in 2005 and wondered about this. The answer is that you need not do anything special as to the TL—you'll be fine, the alarm will not sound.

I had no idea that it would go off when the trunk was forced open as well. A bit off topic, but I would really like to know if there's a way add a shock sensor to the OEM alarm. I think I read somewhere where there's a very limited number of dealerships across the country that will add a shock sensor to the OEM alarm...and it will be covered under warranty.
