How come no one is talking about the VPA-B211A from Apline?

I have an '04 TL with Navigation and I've been trying to sift through all this information about getting an iPod integrated with my OEM stereo system and navigation system...nothing seems to be the "perfect" fit.

Can someone please explain how this thing works with my car?

VPA-B211A

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...odel=VPA-B211A

What all do I need, what can this do for me and my iPod?
I have a 30GB Video iPod (Gen 4).

Thanks!

Looks like a great all-in-one solution. The only question is will it work with our factory head unit. Judging from the sort of things they were doing in the demo on the site, I would guess not.

I would think that we would still need Dom's unit. So basically this is just an overpriced USAspec or P.I.E.......right?

That is correct, you still need a interface to the Factory Headunit. I looked into this some time ago. It is actually not a good solution. As the unit may only cost 190, You have to use AI Net components with it. Jason

Just read my post above that he was commenting on. All this unit will did you you is act like the P.I.E or USAspec units will. Basically this is a more expensive unit than those. Also you will have to use Dom's tvnav&go unit to get the video to the nav screen.

You could you this, but why not save yourself some $ and go with one of the units that everyone else is using

AI Net is Alpines proprietary communication cable. It is the cable that connects two devices together. With there Aux in adapter, you are forced to use the Alpine DVD player, Changer, Ipod adapter, Etc. Given it is very good equipment, used to run all Alpine, but it can get costly. If you look at there install diagram, it says you will need to use a 3rd party interface, this is for Audio and Video. This is only a hub for inputs, the output will need to go to say the Blitzsafe adapter or uspec and you will still need a Nav2go for video input if you want that. Hope this helps. Jason

So is there a solution that will allow me to connect the iPod via one simple cable, control the music/artists/tracks/video etc, from either the ipod itself or the navi touch screen (no remote), and not interfere with xm and allow me to still use the navi while listening to ipod music? If so what do I need to purchase and have installed? Keep in mind I have an '04 w/navi...what is the most popular solution for drivers with my same car and wanting the iPod connection?

You can use the USA Spec or Blitzsafe to do this.....these will also charge the ipod itself.

You can use the PIE to add additional aux inputs (3), but it won't charge the ipod.

All these solutions will allow you to use the DOM unit to input a dvd player or back up camera as long as you use the blitzsafe one that retains xm......

I have the blitzsafe that does not retain xm, but I don't use xm. I also have a '04 with navi
