How to 3gen Carplay/Android Auto 2023
Here i show you how i added Carplay to my 3G without buying the $600-$700 Android Tesla Screen… using my factory system and without doing to much work…
First of all, i didnt wanted a new stereo/system; i love my original nav screen/buttons + didnt wanted to spend a lot of money…
so here it is:
1)Podofo Screen Carplay/Android at Aliexpress $60 (is not a stereo, is just a screen that shows carplay apps on your phone and of course, you can transmit sound to your factory stereo)
2)PA15-Hon2 (this is needed to add the aux mode to the 2004-2006 model)… dont know if the 2007-08 has factory aux mode… bought it in 2011 for $110 i guess
3)Aux Bluetooth adapter from amazon, sort of variety $10-$15
so here you have the tricks;
my idea was to fit the “carplay screen” over the OEM nav screen without dismantle it; so i choose to attach the Pododo over it (see pictures)
instead of using the auxiliar cable from the Screen to the Stereo, i used the Bluetooth aux module to receive the “sound” from the Podofo, and so that, the stereo manage the sound via that.
the podofo screen is attached with a holder/clip in the factory screen BUT if anytime i want to quit the screen, is just simple to pop off WITHOUT any visible marks or damage to my factory screen!
Everything works flawless, almost seem original
if you have questions let me know
here are the pictures
Be sure to add some protector to your factory screen, so then you can attach the Podofo screen without damage
This is the modded clip/holder, to make it flat to attach to the factory screen

More pictures
here anothers pictures… hope you like it
This is the “custom” mod; glued the clip/holder to a flat card, then glued the card to a screen protector, so then the screen protector is attached to the original screen… if i want to remove it all, just have to peel/remove the protector screen..
This is the bracket that “sits” on the modded clip on the screen.. so you can put/quit it any time you want (anti thieft) hahaha
This is how it looks finally…

What exactly did you do when opening up the center console? It seems it was only to hide the cable for aesthetic purposes. Also what do you mean by “aux mode”? I have an 08’ and it has a aux port in the center storage compartment. I’m actually looking for a setup like this, gets the job done.

I'm in the process of tweaking a few things, but I will be making a write-up soon. Earlier this winter, I successfully added something similar to my 2005 TL. Apple CarPlay and a reverse camera...

Hey all,
I'm sorry for the delay. I just got through the October 15 tax deadline and am still trying to catch up on life. We also just received our first round of snow in Michigan (Happy Halloween?) so I need to prioritize getting my TL cleaned up and ready for storage. I can't believe it's already November.
I'll create a new thread with all of my detailed steps in a brand new thread. Once it's complete I can link it here.

I am slammed with work right now, but am slowly drafting my thread via Microsoft Word. I have around 50+ photos that I'm also trying to organize to make my write-up as comprehensive as possible. Thanks or your patience.
