Homelink + X-10 Home Control

Is anyone controlling X-10 Compatible Light switches with the built in Homelink transmitter?

Thanks

Dean,

Sure! I have the firstHomeLink button for the garage door opener and the other two buttons programmed for entry lighing into the house (button two) and living room lighting (button three) meaning I can turn on one or both sets of lights using HomeLink buttons two and three. Takes a bit to set up but it basically works in the same manner as setting up your garage door opener would with the HomeLink.

What actually receives the X-10 commands from the Car?

What is the Working Distance?

Thanks

You will actually need one or two wireless transceiver modules like this one http://www.x10.com/automation/tm751_s.html plus any lamp modules you need for the lamps/lights you wish to turn on within the house. You can get the wireless transceiver modules from x10 or from Radio Shack. I have two of those wireless modules at opposite ends of the house just to be sure it can pick up the remote signal from any room in the house. I have not tried working distance say from the end of my drive way but when I pull into my garage I can reach up and hit buttons two and three and it work from inside my garage. If you want I will try to test the working distance this evening and report back. I am not sure the HomeLink is "strong" enough to turn the lights on from too great a distance.

Will the wireless transceiver module "learn" the signal from the car?

Sorry for leaving out that important detail..... you WILL need one of the x10 remotes that will work with the wireless transceiver to program the HomeLink system. I programmed my HomeLink with this remote http://www.x10.com/automation/kr22a_s.html and I have this type of remoted for use in the rooms of the house http://www.x10.com/automation/hr12a_s.html. You will use one of these x10 remotes to program the HomeLink successfully so that the HomeLink "knows" what signal to send to the x10 wireless transceiver in order to operate your house lights.
If you search the net "carefully" you will find $15 gift certs to use at x10 so that will take the bite out of some of the start up costs!

Now I got it. I actually have everything I need to accomplish this. I'm currently using an Infrared X10 Control Box for lighting and fan controls and never had a need for the wireless transceiver module. I'll set this up this evening and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all of your help
Dean

No problem at all Dean, sounds like your setup is MUCH MORE elaborate than mine! My setup is very basic but it gets the job done! Good luck and if you have more questions let me know.

I control my ceiling fan with light with no X10 controls. The fan + light are controlled normally with an RF remote which I used to program the second and third Home Link buttons in my TL. The fan was purchased at Home Depot.

This works great. As I pull in my garage I hit the first button to open garage door, second button to turn on fanlight and third to start fan (I rarely use the third button).

This setup works great if you already have this type of fan in your home.

Worked great. It has a range of about 40' with the wireless transceiver module plugged in on the ceiling of my garage.
Now as my wife pulls in she can hit the first button to open garage door, second button to turn on the outside entry lights, and the third button to set off the home security system's Siren in case of trouble.

Thanks for your Help TLS-Fiend
