Homelink opening multiple garages on same button

I'm trying to program homelink on a 2005 TL. The first button had been programmed to open another garage at our house. I cleared the memory per the manual, and retrained it to the other garage. But now when I press the button it opens both garages. The garages are on two completely different frequencies. Obviously the memory isn't clearing completely, but I don't understand how homelink can store 2 codes on the same button. Would anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

It depends on the opener. On mine, the opener learns the remote, not the other way around.

What kind of openers are they?

Both garage motors are from liftmaster.

To clarify, the homelink button inside the car has no problem learning the code for the garage motor. But it seems to have kept the other garage code in the memory as well, so now the homelink button opens both garages.

I would clear the memory and reprogram your openers to separate buttons.

I already tried clearing the memory, that's the issue. No matter how many times I clear it, it always remembers both garage doors.

Are these older openers with dip switches or the newer kind that learns?

I haven't touched my settings in years, but if I recall correctly, when you try to reprogram your homelink buttons, don't you also have to go to the opener itself and press the learn button?

If so, then I think what you did is:
button 1 was programmed to door B
button 2 was programmed to door A

You wanted to make button 1 control door A, so you pressed the learn button on opener A, then went to you car and held down button 1. So then you just programmed your opener to open at the frequency/code for door B. Both door open with the code for B.
