I wonder HOW similar the MDX Navi and TL Navi is... IF they are the same, with the difference of software and screen.... i wonder if the MDX back up camera and whatever module is added to the navi to use the camera, could be installed on the TL... I was just looking up the parts for the MDX navi... seems pretty steep, but if it were the same, it would still be cheaper than the avelectronics unit and even more so, OEM

 

I'm bringing this one back, because I'm working on this new project. If the MDX navi/dvd unit can be use as plug and play or close to it for a 2003 TL-S w/ NAV. This will make my life easier. Also, it will allow for my back up camera to be added without the need of an external device.

there are some other things to keep in mind... like the MDX doesn't do the audio stuff on the screen like the TL's (like listing the XM song title/artist/etc.)

There's a company on the web that makes an aftermarket backup camera you can add to your TL Navi. It's listed somewhere on the forums here. I doubt you could get the MDX parts working with the TL... I checked my Navi DVDs for one thing on both cars and they are different. Was hoping I could take the TL06 Navi DVD and use it in the 05 MDX, no luck they're too different. The MDX has a smaller screen but it seems a lot clearer to me, while the TL displaying the songs on the screen is something I really wish I had in the MDX.
