Hidden navi menu warning!
So, I read the MAP-MENU-CANCEL hidden menu thread. Lots of menus in there, some cool stuff. Well, I kept digging deeper and accidently hit a "load from disc" under the version menu (IIRC). Long story short, this loads the default ROM image from the DVD and re-flashes your Navi system!
This new image has two different things I have found so far:
* Under info (where calc and calendar are) there is a new menu option for trip computer. This shows current MPG and other various stats on your trip. Pretty cool. However...
* The Volume control for the subwoofer is gone!
* Last but not least, the usual Acura logo displayed while your Navi boots up, turns to a Honda logo!
I went to the dealer and have an appt. to reload the firmware on the Navi, hopefully they can fix it quickly. Just a warning to all those who love to tinker with the hidden menus!

What version of the DVD do you have? Just wondering if the "G" version is the latest/greatest and if that would make a difference. Can you post screen shots?

Sounds like you loaded the firmware for the Accord instead of the TL firmware. The TL firmware, as well as several other versions, is there on your DVD - perhaps if you try again you can re-load the correct firmware file...

Someone burned Accord's Navi DVD to work with TL and did make Trip computer work, too.
It's interesting to see the screen change from Acura to Honda by simply loading your original TL's Navi DVD. I did this before with my early version DVD (I got my car in Oct.), and it seemed that nothing happened.
Since you have to check the version of DVD, do you know your last 6 digit VIN (53xxxx)?

Anyone know where more detail would be on this topic. I have a TL, but my wife has the Pilot with NAV. It would be great if I could enable the trip computer -- that is the one thing we lost from the Highlander when we bought the Pilot.

Yesterday the dealer fixed my navi. They had to pull the ECU from the navigtion dvd rom unit in the trunk out and put it back in. I guess this resets it to facotry defaults. Seems like a battery disconnect for a few minutes would do the same.

I've also heard that you lose the "Send" command from the Navi to the HFL when you load the Accord Navi system. I think there's also some Voice Recognition stuff that you can lose as well.
In a word: Don't do it! (OK, that's three words.)
