HFL shut off

Does anyone know how I can shut off the HFL ? It currently does not work on my 2007 tl and is draining my battery. I know this because of a frost in the morning, I went outside to see my car covered in frost except a melted patch right above my rearview mirror. I am going to try to either replace it, or try a capacitor replacement that I've read about, but for the meantime I'd like to be able to start my car after it sits for a night.

Looking for a quick fix, and thenwhen I have the time fix the issue entirely.

Just unplug it. I took mine right out. It only takes a couple minutes. It's behind the lights behind the rearview mirror.

There is no quick fix short of actually unplugging the unit which requires you to disassemble part of the housing which it sits in.

Thank you, this won't affect anything else will it? I started looking for a fuse, but unplugging this seems simple.

I've seen a 3 part video on how to replace the HFL. Pop off the faceplate, and a couple acrew to remove it.

Yes, unplug/remove the HFL; do not remove the fuse for it.
The fuse is common with some other minor controls or interior lighting, IIRC.

The process is well-described with photos in the thread at: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...-06-tl-843512/

That thread also describes the board-baking repair if you are so inclined.
