Do I need to disconnect the battery before installing a new HFL in my 08 Acura TL w/Navigation? I am hoping to avoid having to redo the radio and navigation startup.

recommended to always disconnect the battery, but with a careful and correct install, nothing will mess up if you dont disconnect the battery. definitely keep the key out though, so the hfl isn't trying to start up as you plug it in

 

I replace mine without disconnect the battery, just make sure you don't put the key in ignition.

 

I installed the HFL without disconnecting the battery following the advice of not having the key in the ignition. Completed task without any mishaps. All works great. Can't believe how easy this install was. Thanks.

 

you just save $850 from what dealer wanted for the repair.
