HFL and BB 8700
I have a blackberry 8700 and just got an '05 TL. If anyone is wondering, the 8700 works just great with the HFL, so far... Signal strength, battery indicator, caller ID, its all good.
One question, tho, and I hope I'm just missing something. When I initiate a call from the phone (ie dial on the phone and hit send) the HFL doesn't automagically take over the call. I have to either a) select "activate HandsFreeLink" on the phone or b) perform a "transfer" on the HFL. I can't do either of these things until the call is actually connected, which means I have to interrupt my conversation to do it.
On my last bluetooth handsfree setup (SE HCB-30) the handsfree would automatically activate when I hit the send button on the phone.
I hope I'm just being obtuse and missing a simple setting somewhere. Any guidance?

anyone have the same problem documented above? The more I use the BlackBerry 8700c and the TL, the more it annoys me. My latest observation is that when I initiate a call from the phone, not only doesn't the HFL pick it up, but for some reason I can't hear anything on the phone or on the car until someone picks up - ie, I can't hear the called-phone ringing. it just picks up!

Do the dial from the HFL, not the phone. I have not been able to find a way for it to take over. Just hit the HFL button and say "Call 555-555-5555" then when it repeats the number back, say "dial" or "call". Or you can program in the number to the car and do a name dial.

does that work? I always assumed that the HFL would re-dial the last number IT (the HFL) had dialed, not the last number the phone had dialed. But if that does work, that's a better approach than what I do - which is to read the number off the phone so the car can dial it! I frequently call numbers that are embedded in notes or calendar entries, etc, and it always irritates me that I can't just highlight the number and hit the send button when I'm in the car...
thanks, mike!

that does work. tried it at lunch. it's silly that we have to do that, but it's better than having to dial from the HFL or having to tell the person you called to hang on so you can transfer the call to the HFL.
thanks again for the suggestion, Mike!
