"Help! Nav keeps downloading"
Greetings to all,
Just happened today. Noticed when I start the car, the nav display's "downloading software, do not shut engine off". Then it asks for my code which I input and then the cycle starts all over again, down loading software do not shut engine off, ect. I've tried everything from disconnecting the battery to installing an old nav disc. to no avai. My son suspects the DVD reader in the trunk may have gone south. After reading some of the threads here on the forum, this may be the case but I'm not sure. I know the dealer is gonna soak me
if I bring it in so I thought I'd you guy's for some input. This is a 2004 TL stock system. Any input would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Desert Fox

If I remember correctly you should be able to call Alpine and send it in to them for repair for 358 dollars. If it's just not reading discs I can't imagine it would be too hard to change out the laser.
