Help: Dom's Unit + Dice unit + Ps2SLIM
Hey guys,
I need some help! Well, so far i have installed my DICE UNIT, (thanks travis) and on there it has an AUX slot. I want to install a PS2SLIM in my tl so i can watch dvds on there..
What i'm confused about is...
1. How do i power the Ps2slim?
2. How do i connect the black/red wire from the ps2slim into the AUX slot of the dice unit? ( is there an adapter?)
3.How would the ps2slim come on ? ( do i need to buy a switch? )
4.Once i get Video to show up on the Navi system, how would i run the audio from the dice unit to Aux?
Sorry for all the nooby questions, but i'm confused on what to do.. =\
Thanks in advance you guys!

1. This is what I'm using to power the PS2:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4183750

2. I connected the white and red audio cables to the red and white slot on the USASpec.
3. I bought the remote to power on the PS2, but the glove compartment is close enough for me to just reach over and push the on button too.

4. Not really sure on how the Dice unit works, but for my USASpec, I just push DISC/TAPE button until the CD-C screen comes up. The iPod is CD-C 5 and the AUX is CD-C 6.

Hope this helps a bit.

and for the video part i believe dom is placed in the back of the trunk. how the heck do you connect to the dom? do i need really long video cable? i get the sound part but its kinda hard to get the video out

The switch is for Dom's unit to change from the Nav to Video screen. Dom's switch was only about 2ft long, so I made a new switch and wired it all the way up to the center console, where I can access it without having to open the trunk.
You can see the original switch in this picture (the one with the red and black wire)

As for the video part, I just bought a 12' video cable (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1181832627386) and wired it through the trunk and under the carpet beneath the rear seats all the way to my USASpec unit, which is located right beneath the cupholders.

Hey MoHaWk2003,
Could u possibly list all the items that you've bought to successfully complete this project? Things such as connectors, adapters, things you used to tap the power for the doms unit, cause i'm about to order Dom's Unit and BackUp Camera, and i wanna plan everything out before i start ripping my TL apart lols
So far i got :
Dom's Unit
ps2 Slim
RCA to AUX adapter for PS2
power adapter for PS2
connector for ps2slim's VIDEO wire to DOM's Unit
Also, can u explain how u tapped power from the cig lighter for dom's unit? how come u didnt do that with the ps2 aswell?
Thanks alot!

Let's see:
Dom's Unit ( + PNP Harness)
Kenwood CCD-900 Backup Camera
PS2 Slim
USASpec PA11-HON2y (Others are using the DICE unit)
Intec PS2 Car Adapter
12' Video (Yellow) Cable
Switch from Radio Shack
Spool of 18 Gauge Wire from Radio Shack
Wire Taps (Below)
1 Female/Female Yellow Cable Adapter (To connect the 12' video cable and the PS2 video cable)
Dremel (To cut out the plastic in between the license plate lights to fit my camera)
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search
This is how I tapped power for Dom's unit. The black wire in the picture is like the cigarette lighter wire. The red wire in the picture is like the power wire for Dom's unit. A little piece of metal under the plastic flap will cut into both wires when you close the flap. See here:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search
I didn't tap the PS2 into anything because I would have to cut the PS2 power wire and the PS2 power wire is much thicker than the regular wires.
I also debated on plugging in a power inverter (http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search) to power my PS2, but it was gonna end up being bulkier than using the Intec Adapter.

Wow, Radio Shack has everything =) i'm gonna print out your post and visit radio shack Lol, Btw hows the quality on the Kenwood CCD-900 Backup camera? do u mind posting a picture? And how much was it? Where'd u ordered it from? sorry for all the questions, but the dom's camera is about 195, pretty pricey =\
Well, i understand all the things you listed except for the
Spool of 18 Guage wire, Could u possbily link that? and which wire are u extending with the guage wire.
Thanks mohawk2003, you're really helpful!

Thanks for sharing the info.
sorry to bother you but how did you power up both ps2 and dom unit thing? we only get one cigar jack. is there any way to draw power from the car's main battery and connect to the dvd player? (im little afraid of that battery might go out though. my friend installed gps on his car and power stays on even though he turn off his car. so im afraid that samething might happen to my car.)

This is what I used to connect the two ends of the wire:

I really like the Kenwood although it ended up being a bit larger than what I thought. It's less stealthy as Wendy's camera and forced me to angle it just a tad lower than what other people have done. I bought it on Crutchfield for $199 in October of 2006 with no tax and free shipping. I bought it there because that was where I bought my USASpec too. Crutchfield can be overpriced in some areas, but I thought the price of the Kenwood was reasonable.
datmrman helped me out a lot with my install. His write up was what gave me confidence to do this project myself. I even bought the same rocker switch from Radio Shack as him (in the picture above) although I put it in a different location. Here is his write up that should be extremely helpful for you too:

dhkkim,
My TVandNav2Go unit is hardwired to the cigarette lighter (tapped) while my PS2 plugs into the cigarette lighter.
Some members here have hardwired their PS2/DVD players at the fuse box with the "add a circuit/fuse" method. I went with the Intec adapter because I didn't want to cut my PS2 power wire. I know zax123 hardwired his PS2, so I would PM him for more information about that.
I know for a fact that our cigarette lighters power down with the car, so that won't be a problem. I also unplug my PS2 power adapter from the lighter whenever I'm not using it just to be safe. My friend's Ford Explorer does the same thing with the cigarette lighter. It stays on even after the car is off and the key is out of the ignition. I don't really get it, but I guess that's Ford.
