Help Cutting Door Panel to Install Bigger Speakers
Help Cutting Door Panel to Install Bigger Speakers
So tomorrow when my new amp comes in I will be transferring my 2-way component system from my CL to my TL. Today I was messing around to see how the speakers would fit so I would know what to expect tomorrow during my install and if there's anything extra I might need done. I found that the speaker hole in the door is too small for my speakers
so I'll have to cut the door to make the holes bigger.
Any suggestions oh how to cut the door and what tools would be best? I currently have absolutely no power tools or even any cutting tools for that matter. Also what would be the best way to mount the speakers after cutting the door?

there's room in front of the speaker behind the door panel. Why not just install a spacer to give you the room you need?

thanks for the reply. After doing a few measurements I found the speaker won't fit behind the door panel even if I was to just screw it into the door with it protruding much less with a spacer. The hole simply isn't big enough for enough of the speaker to sit inside the door thus leaving an excessive amount protruding from the door. My aim will be to cut the door to the point that the lip of the speaker will sit against the metal, I found that having the speaker sit with almost all of it inside the door will leave about a 5mm space between the windown(when rolled down) and the back of the speaker
Also this should leave sufficient space between the face of the speaker and the inside of the door panel.
Here are a few pictures to show how much bigger the speaker is than stock:
