"Hands Free Link" message on radio

Got a 2005 TL, non-navi that frequently displays the message "hands free link" on the radio during and after it rains. The radio doesn't function at all while this message is displayed, and my steering wheel controls for the HFL don't affect the message at all. The message stays up for anywhere to 5 minutes to a whole day. In addition, my HFL has been disconnected for the better part of three years now. If it matters at all, I have an isimple connect hooked up to it.

This has been going on for about two years now, and it's getting to the point where I want to stop it. Anyone have any experience with this and how I should go about figuring out what the problem is?

Me too

Same here. It happened once before. Took a few days to clear. Happened again today, 5 months later.

I removed the HFL and the complete done assembly. Still not working. I did notice my interior lights will not fully dim.

I'm still trying to narrow mine down, pretty much happens every morning there's condensation now too.

Interesting that you mentioned your interior lights are dim, mine never are but my door locks occasionally lose their mind and cycle between locked and unlocked a bunch of times during the winter. I've narrowed that down to the MICU, wonder if that has anything to do with our issues. I'm guessing lights and locks go through the MICU, but I have no idea if the HFL system does.

In case anyone else has this problem, I've found a temporary "fix" that worked for me.

I plugged my HFL module back in, and my radio began working again. Unplugged it, and the radio went back to showing "Hands Free Link" back on the radio.

Luckily my HFL module doesn't drain my battery yet, so I'm leaving it plugged in. If I can find a more permanent fix I'll post it here.
