Groundbreaking Info! Hack your Navi! (Change Pics, Remove Nag Screen) (Garage I-139)
Is anyone following the navigation modification thread in the TSX forum? Will this work on our TLs? I really want to do the no-nag part of it.

I am closing this thread since it is so large and unorganized. The new thread that datmrman created spells everything out and is excellent.
Refer to it here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129765

got the background image to work. had to play with # of colors in Photoshop to get filesize <= old image.
As soon as my SH-4 disassembler finishes downloading, I'll see if I remember anything from my x86 assembler classes in college

Not the way it works now. It REQUIRES a bmp, 480x234, max of 256 colors. I had to drop mine to 160 to work. DO NOT try RLE compression in Photoshop. The TL will just show a blank screen instead of your bmp.

changing the stuff on your computer was pretty straightforward. Just make sure u put the dumpnavi zip files into the folder where you can use the command prompt. Then just follow the readme. Also, make sure your new back.bmp is smaller than the original (130,000bytes).
Here is what mind will look like:
My car is in the garage and my parents are asleep and the alarm is set so i have to do the rebooting tmr.

I'm working on the nag screen fix right now. I found the place to modify the instruction using a hex editor. Just set address 0x0900 to 90h. When I save the file, it's the same size as the uncompressed file extracted from the BIN but when dumpnavi.exe tries to put it back into the BIN, the compressed size is 2 bytes bigger and I don't know why. I even tried the same thing with the TSX bin (BNHN404A.BIN) and it also compresses to two bytes more. That's where I'm stuck right now. If someone has figured this out, PLEASE HELP. Thanks!

thanks. yeah i have the alarm where when i open a door or window, it beeps. Even when the system isnt armed. Plus if i disarm it, it takes about 1 minute to arm and the beeps are annoying and i dont know how to bypass the countdown.

I have version 3.30C (early build '04 6MT). The disk only has 7 BIN files on it. Wonder if the TL only has 7 vice the 9 BIN files on the TSX? Anyone confirm for the TL?
Never mind, it just got answered on the TSX thread....

There's 9. Be sure to count add.bin, zzz10.bin, and zzz100.bin

Thats awsome. If one say, wanted to keep the nag screen there, could it be edited so it was black and yellow striped and had warning written in red in the scenter, and then it was tapped to continue? Have something like Press enter to Execute program. Something cool. Not really purposful.

aaarrrggg!!!! what am I doing wrong?
I've extracted the files, but when I run the update command line (dumpnavi BN2HH12C.BIN update back.bmp 2112.bmp) I get the error message:
Unable to find back.bmp on BIN

I meant something like this, and you would select execute. I made this in paint so its crap, so sorry if it doesnt work. Also I am using photobucket so it may dissapear cause of bandwith issues.

Works great! (Once I got the filename right..Duh!). If there are any Rush fans on this board, someone posted a nice 2112 bmp on the TSX thread.

Acura NAVI hacked !!!!
Anyone interested in changing the startup boot screen image on the Navi should read this link !!!
In addition to changing the default Acura startup to a custom screen, there has been coding efforts to remove the dreadful 'OK' prompt that everyone seems to hate!!
A few people with 3G TL's have confirmed that it also works on the TL.

NAVI MODS from the TSX forum
I tried this mod last night and worked. It allows you to change the startup screen on your navi to any BMP you like.
