GPS/navigation location is "off" - way to reset?
The navigation in my wife's 2006 TL is way off. She'll pull up to a major street and it shows us well away from the road. We'll be driving down one road and show us on another road. It's really annoying. I have tried messing with the location adjustment and it doesn't seem to help much. I'm sure it's made it worse.
Is there a way to reset the GPS? I'm guessing it's going to mean pulling the battery for 30 minutes +. What will be lost with that? Presets? Seat memory? Bluetooth pairings?

The GPS antenna is located under the rear shelf. Metallic tint or items on the rear shelf or in the trunk (other aftermarket electronics) could mess up reception. You might also want to check to make sure the antenna wasn't somehow bumped or damaged.
The next thing to try would be to diconnet the battery. Be sure you have the audio and radio codes. Radio presets and address book info will remain intact but I can't comment on the seat memory settings.
If neither of the above works, its most likely a hardware issue.
Did this start suddenly? Does it do this when the map is zoomed all the way in?

I'd disconnect the battery first. When you reconnect and start the car, the Navi re-searches the satellites and re-establishes your position. You won't lose anything. BUT you will need your Radio and Navi Codes so make sure you've got them handy BEFORE you do the disconnect.
If you do <MAP><MENU><CANCEL> that will take you to a diagnostics menu. One of the items is related to the GPS and you can view your current location in Lat/Long/Elv. It will also show the number of satellites your car is using for position. There *might* be an adjustment there, but I don't know how it works.

Umm, I tried to read this thread in it's entirety, but I've got a short attention span, so if I'm out of place, ignore me..
In the Setup menu, you can adjust the car's position on the map, to correct for any GPS issues that you're having. It's probably most likely that this is what caused your problem in the first place. Just play around in the Setup menu until you find the option to adjust the position. If you haven't found it by the next time I read this post, which might be never, I'll reply with the exact menu location.

I've been doing the "Adjust position" under the Setup menu. I think that is what is not working.
If I pull the battery cable for a few hours, will that clear everything in the unit and get me back to stock?

Hey there,
Found this thread with Google... was having the same exact issue with a 99 TL and removing the battery cable for about 30 minutes and restarting fixed my problem. Had to enter the security codes for the radio and Navi, but no big deal.
It couldn't get a satellite lock the first time around, so I had to move to the local school parking lot where it is really open.
Once it got a lock I drove around for a bit and it's perfect again.
Thanks much - it prompted me to join this forum!
