Front Speaker Q's
Front Speaker Q's
I have seen two different measurements on here for the front speakers, I wanted to get some conformation.
I have seen 6.25" & 6.5". I believe I saw 6.25 in the stickies but pretty much everything else states 6.5". Has anybody ever had any issues trying to put a 6.5" driver in the front?
For anybody with deeper than stock speakers, what did you do to accommodate for the extra depth? Mdf rings?
Also, has anybody not ran rear speakers in this car? Just front components? If so, how'd it sound?
For reference, I'm going to put my Hybrid Audio Clarus set in the doors with a 2 7/8" mounting depth vs 2 1/8 inch stock depth.
Where is the best place to put the crossovers?

These questions have been answered a hundred times and are likely in the FAQs.
I have 9" Dynaudio speakers flush mounted (no MDF rings) and no mods other than cutting the hole larger so the worst possible outcome of installing those speakers is having to cut the hole larger which you will have to do with pretty much any aftermarket speaker. The hole is a "D", even with the use of an MDF ring which is recommended you'll probably have to cut it for clearance.
Crossovers can go pretty much anywhere except for the doors.....keep them away from moisture.

Like I said, I appreciate it.
Any idea on why the stock speaker mount is in a D shape?
Like I said I saw many different answers for a few of the questions I had asked so I wanted some confirmation. I appreciate the insight though. I'd just tear the door panels off myself to check, but it's still ~25 degrees here in WI so..a little too cold to be outside experimenting on my car.
