Frequent navi problems in 3rd gen TLs??

I have been seeing an increasing number of posts about problems with flatlining of the outside temp display resulting in dead batteries, loss of phone icon and climate control data on the upper display of navi cars. The short term cure is to disconnect the negative ground wire to let the system reset. I saw one post that said Acura recomended a total replacement of the navi unit to cure the problem.

I have experienced similar problems three different times, all resolved by a quick disconnect of the negative battery cable. The navigational part of my system has worked well except for all the roads and landmarks disappearing from the screen for a couple of miles.

I called the dealership today and the sevice mgr. scheduled a total navi replacement for my 05 TL next week.

I hate the thought of having the console disassembled since I have no rattles but don't want to keep carrying a 10mm socket in the trunk to fix this glitch. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms with their car and have other less radical fixes worked??

Flat line temp sensor

I have the same problem. 1st time (December 10, 2004) about 1 month after buying the car. 2nd time was ~Feb 17 and 3rd time on Feb 27.

The dealer replaced the temp sensor 2nd time but I knew it would not fix it. I have scheduled another visit (tomorrow) and will request your solution (replacement of the whole system).

My problem is a bit more elaborate, though. All my set radio stations (XM, FM, AM) also go to default. Actually, I set a few stations right after getting the car. A few days later they were erased?!?!?! so I set them again. When the first flat line appeared, the preset channels are back to the first time I set the radio stations and I had to set the channels again after repair.

The 2nd repair was interesting. I got flat line temp, and the previosly set radio channels appeared (from my first attempt). After the repair, all my 2nd set channels were back, the temp reading was normal and the phone icon appeared, for a few days, at least.
Thanks.
Scott

I had the same problems. I took my car back to the dealership and they said this is becomming a common problem . I was told the problem is with defective batteries having bad cells. They replaced my battery and I haven't had a problem since (about 1 month now)

Ya, that was what they told me the first time too... bad battery post. They replaced it and all was well, for about a month. It acted up again and the 2nd time they replaced the OAT sensor. That worked for about 1 week.

This problem actually gets fixed by disconnecting the battery for about 5 seconds.

Do a search in this site for "flatline". The first link has a list of people with this same problem.

Regards.
