Finding XM serial number?

Finding XM serial number?
I just bought my 05 TL w/Nav and wanted to activate the XM service. I called XM and they indicated I need to provide them with my 8 digit number, unique to my reciever. They said tune to channel 0 and it will come up on screen. My problem is that I cannot tune to channel 0. Everytime I try to scan or use the seek buttons, it says "UPDATING" and won't change the channel I'm on (Ch 130). Any suggestions on how I can get this 8-digit number??

I've tried to manually change it by turning the knob already, but that doesn't work. I've also tried to "scan" (which doesn't work) and attempted by "seeking". Nothing.

Try hitting the voice button on the steering wheel and saying, "XM channel zero."
If it just keeps saying updating, try leaving the radio on while the car sits with a clear view of the sky. Maybe it's not getting enough satellite signal to update.

Do they offer 3 months free trial like if the car was new?

I was going to ask for the 3-month, but instead, I just went for the $77/year option. After they offered me the $154/yr plan, I told them it was too much and that I received a letter several weeks ago stating I could get it for $77. They didn't hesitate, and I was acutally up and running in less than 10 minutes!
