Few questions to those with after market HU's
Hello,
I have been searching around for a bit an can't get a black an white answer on this.
I'm going to be getting a Pioneer double din DVD head unit and I was going to run better speaker wire from the head unit to the speakers (maybe a 4 channel amp in the future). As in I'm not going through the stock harness for any audio. To bypass the stock amp can I just unplug it and remove it? I figure since I don't need the harness for anything I could just remove the amp. Would this work fine?
I've run speaker wire like this in my Prelude with no problem but not sure if this method is OK for the TL.

If you all aren't going to be using the stock harness for anything, you should be able to just take out the amp with no ill effects.
If you're wanting to use the stock harness for something here's how to bypass the amp.

what do you mean just take out the amp? ok, then what?..just leave the amp wires disconnected??, you still would have to connect all the speaker wires to the aftermarket receiver via bypassing the amp and connecting the wires running into the amp directly to the receiver.. so the question is, what are the options of doing that are there harnesses for that or do you have to just wire splice?

If you're not going to run new wire from your new receiver to your speakers, click the link in my first post, it explains how to use your stock wiring harness to bypass the stock amplifier.
If you can't decipher this post Kenny, hire someone.
