Female vs. Male Navi
#43
I guess I should tell this story.
I bought a Whistler radar detector over eBay. My TL was brand new. I didn't know it until I plugged the radar detector in, but it had a voice alert. A female voice.
I went for my first ride down toward the high school. On the way there, I was playing with the voice command and trying different things out.
Suddenly, the radar detector blurted out: "CAUTION: K band!" It surprised me and I must have pressed the voice command button on the steering wheel. Because the TL said "Pardon me?"
The radar detector repeated: "CAUTION: K band!" I must have hit the button again because the TL said "Would you repeat that?"
That's when I had to put my foot down. "Hey! This is my new car and I won't have you two beeyoches arguing in it!"
The first day with my new TL and the computers are trying to take it over.

Well, 'nuff of the girl-voice-bashing......
I use the female, since I think the male voice sounds really snotty.
I asked a woman at the car wash about her 2005 TL, and after we got through discussing how totally in love with our 2005 and 2006 (mine) we are, we got around to the navi-voice. She agreed: the guy is snotty sounding, and she uses the female, too.
We also agreed, laughingly, that when you go the wrong way (now, maybe this is a girl-thing since we all know guys NEVER go the wrong way!!! ), the female voice seems to be inferring at the end of "make a u-turn, if possible".......you IDIOT!!! Can you hear that, too?

I may need to change to the male voice.
