Factory system - aftermarket 1-ohm sub?

I have been reading the forums for some time now since purchasing my 07 TL. I have sealed off the rear deck with some sealing (aluminum) tape from home depot which has made a big improvement in the quality of the bass from all rear speakers but am still thinking I need a bit better lower end bass. I have tried swapping the factory sub with a a kicker of some sort and I did like the quality of bass but there was not enough of it. I am considering buying a dual 2-ohm sub and wiring in parallel to achieve 1 ohm. I want to know if anyone has tried this and if the factory amp can stand up to the added current requirement over time.

Thanks for your input. I am looking for the easiest, simplest ways to upgrade. I realize I may just have to purchase an amp and put an enclosed sub in the trunk.

Factory amp will not handle two subs even at 2ohms. It's just not powerful enough.

Sorry, not considering two subs at this point.

A single sub with dual two ohm voice coils which if wired in parallel will achieve approximately a 1-ohm load.

I highly doubt the factory amp is 1ohm stable. About a 99% chance it's not. You're never going to get what you want from what you're trying to work with. It'd have to be crazy efficient on that stock amp also. What about ignoring the rear deck because it's not easy to work with and will always rattle/flex. What's your budget??

Few hundred. I have a backup plan in mind. Futture shop has a pioneer 300 watt (4 ohms) class d amp i could pair with my old school orion 10" (about '94). just needs an enclosure.

Check your local Craigslist for amps or sealed boxes. Where are you located?? If you're in Oklahoma City area..today is your lucky day lol. I've got 3 boxes just sitting in my living room with no home
