Thumbs up Factory Deck Face w/ Subwoofer

I plan on tossing two 15" subs in the back of my new 06 however I do not want to mod the front deck, nor run the audio through FM.

What can I do so that I do not mod the front deck display and not run the audio through the FM channel to the subs?

Thanks,

Acurazine.com n00b

What?
Are you trying to add subs to your factory system? You dont need a display. You just need an amp and someone to install it for you.

But if you use the factory deck your signal to the subs will be carried from the FM port on the back to deck to the subwoofer giving you a radio quality sound to the subs, am I not correct?

not at all.

The subs will get signal from the signal to the factory sub in the rear deck. You will disconnect the stock sub and send the signal to whatever subs you install.

I would suggest (and this has been covered numerous times) going in to the factory amp and cutting pre-amp for your sub feed, then either splice up rca heads or a line out convertor. Otherwise, your amping a signal, then hooking that signal up to an aftermarket amp, making the aftermarket amp be run by the stock amp, which just seems wierd. I used to have it this way, 'post-amp',then for sh*ts and giggles, i changed it to pre amp. What equipment are you going with? What type of amp, subs, and box- after I hooked up my subs, I found it to be overkill, and instantly wanted to upgrade my mids and highs. Now, the subs are out cuz too much weight and space taken in the trunk. Good luck and bump hard with them 15's.

Def a noob hehe...

Anyways, there are things called input, usually sources (FM antenna port via fm modulator), cd changer port, ipod/portable cd player to cassette tape. There are things called outputs: sound (speakers), RCA output, speaker level output.

You will need to use speaker level output. That just means you tap wires into the stock subwoofer wires in the trunk and then use either thingy called a LOC (line out converter) or get an amp that has what is called speaker level inputs.

After doing that, you will need a trigger wire (a wire to tell them amp when to turn on/off) and two nice juicy 4 or 8ga wires depending on how many amps you are drawing and how far you wish to place the amplifier from the battery.
