Cool External Av Input and Aux Sub Schematics

I was bored today so i made a schematic that allows ext vid and reverse cam video selection for the navi screen as well as allowing stock functionality from a SPDT switch.

Also made a separate schematic that allows ext sub w/o ANC and stock sub w/ ANC. This is for using a shitty ext amp with line level inputs i have as a spare in my garage. A line level converter could be used to add RCA for good amps.

Any comments? I think I'll be making this on a PCB for my car soon. Just have to get a couple 12V signal relays and 2 diodes. Total of about $40 to complete w/ PCB.

nice but to save on wiring distance you could tap the 12v from the sub amp if its in the trunk to the video unit with will most likely be in the tunk as well.

That's probably what i will be doing. That way i have a fused link input. I think ill be adding resettable fuses as well to further current limit. When i wired up the car last night in preparation i used a cat6 network cable to allow up to 8 potential switching options to the trunk since all my circuits are ground loop isolation based.

I am amazed nobody has more interest considering this is less than $10 in parts and does what i believe units costing hundreds of dollars for sale offer.

well even though i consider myself electonic savy i still wouldnt try this on my car which is why i started with tvandnav2go although i didnt buy it new. but if you box it up and slap a logo on it you could sell them for 150 and undercut the competiton and become a vendor on here.

on a side note i kinda think doing all this for a dvd player is kinda weak. intergrating a large capacity media player with video and other features makes it a lot more worth it.

Yeah, after driving a fourth gen tl dealer loaner i saw how much nicer their screen, software, and interface are. Built in hard drive, reverse camera overlay, higer resolution display, faster response, and more intuitive interface.

And nobody is saying the external device must be a dvd player. You can use a quickboot device such as a smartphone or iphone as a display source, but as far as full integration that would add much more work to the design.
