Extend range of OEM key fob or receiver?

Is it possible to extend the range of the signal from key fob to receiver or vice versa? I would imagine that you can NOT do anything to the key fob, but I would imagine that you CAN mess with a antenna or something that give the receiver the standard 30 feet or so of acceptance. I've found only one thread mentioning this dilemma but it wasn't answered absolutely in either direction.

An interesting question. I always have the problem of having to walk back to the car to lock it - I tend to walk away and then remember to have to lock the car. Of course, a new battery in the key fob wouldn't hurt...
Anyways, interested in the topic...

Yes you can. I know this is going to sound crazy but it does work.

Hold the keyfob up to your jaw pointed in the direction of your car, then press the button you want. The range will be increased dramatically. Try it. Some say that if you open your mouth it goes even farther, but I don't know this to be fact (though I have done it).

Really, try it.

I have done this also. Just putting the FOB near your head. I guess your body acts an antenna. I must say the FOB range for the TL is much better than the TSX. Actually, last night I wanted to make sure I locked up for the night. I had the leave the TL-S out in the driveway (I know I know, it should be in the garage), and all I did was open the kitchen door and push the lock button. Then I pushed it again and heard the beep. Great range and even through the steel garage door.

Yea...um, I rather it not reach than that I look like a fool holding it to my chin. I use to do that when I was much younger, but I drove a civic, so I didn't mind looking like an idiot.

This is more along the line I'm trying to follow. I would imagine there is some sort of receiver somewhere in the car (WHERE?) that I could solder a wire to, and then run the wire to a small windshield mounted antenna (hidden of course, along the headboard). This is what I actually had on my civic when I had a remote starting alarm system. The range was VERY good.

Any idea where the factory receiver is at?
Anyone tried this mod yet? I'll be the guinea pig if someone answers the possibility of tapping into the receiver.......

USE YOUR BRAIN

Many years ago, a senior car electrical technician told me that by pointing the key fob to the lower back of your head, just above the neck, the key signal would use the brain's wavelength to extend the key's signal therefore you can use the key from far away, like 1.3 to 1.5 times of the previous max range.

One tip, he said that maintain clear thoughts, that help your brainwave...

When I heard him, I thought, BS, that's impossible, and he showed me, and had me try, I was shock and surprise, now I use that method whenever I need...

Tell me silly, but go ahead and try it

The receiver is under the drivers side dash - left of the steering wheel... It'll have a three wire plug I believe.... One wire is yellow...

Good luck

you need to get an external flux campacitor hardwired to the ECU with ver. 3.9a installed on the key fob and you can lock/unlock your car 5 miles away.....
