DVD-A Titles?
DVD-A Titles?
Anyone have some suggestions as to what DVD-Audio music discs to buy that really bring out the maximum features of the ELS surround system? Rock or Jazz Rock? thanks in advance!!
Not sure about taste in music, but if you can find a copy of pink floyd, dark side of the moon, its supposed to be one of the best multi track mixes available. The dave brubeck quartet, time out take five is also very good. I have them on SACD and they sound very good in surround.
There are a number of threads about DVD-A favorites. Brothers In Arms (Dire Straights), Running On Empty (Jackson Brown), Dark Side of the Moon, Guero (Beck), Downward Spiral (NIN) sound great in 5.1. BTW, SEARCH is your friend.....

It ain't for everyone and it ain't subtle but it has NEVER disappointed anyone I play it for.
The Blue Man Group's "The Complex".
I don't listen to it all that much but it will definitely demonstrate the system. Not every song is that wild but if you listen to the whole disc you will see that each channel in the system is very discretely used at one time or another. This is definitely a "bang!" look what this system can do disk. Discs recommended by others will probably bring out more of the subtleties of multichannel recordings.
Plus if you like the BMG there are extras you watch on your DVD-V player in the house.
