Hi All,

I was one of the many people who were able to fix the "DVD Disc reading error. Please consult your dealer." message by pulling the DVD unit out of the trunk of my 04 and cleaning the lens. I would see the error normally upon starting the car. Now in my 07 Type-S I am have a similar issue. The only difference is that I am only getting it while actually using the navigation guidance. This is almost happening without fail and has never happened while not using the guidance.

Anyone else have a similar issue? Plan to pull the unit to clean it either way but am afraid that its something else.

Try cleaning the navi disc too. My navi map would load very slowly at start up and sometimes it wouldn't read at all. Before I decided to clean the lens, I cleaned the disc because the lens lightly engraved into the disc, creating a small ring. Though I couldn't get rid of the ring that was engraved, I was still able to wipe the disc and it fixed my issue.

 

I will actually try that first. A lot easier to pull and inspect the disc than the drive itself. Thanks.
