DVD question

Has anybody tried to replace the factory DVD player in the trunk with an aftermarket DVD player. Could this be a solution to playing regular DVD's on our navi screen. Also a related question, Does the navi disc play on any DVD player?

No. Our factory "DVD" system in the trunk is only to read the Navi info out of that DVD-format database. IMO, it's pretty like the CD/DVD with full of data instead of movie stream.

what annaie1 means is why not take out the DVD player in the trunk, and put one in that is capable of reading both the Navi disc and DVD-video discs

If thats poosible its kinda useless since u cant use both functions at once. Switching back and fourth would be a pain.
