DVD Night and Day
Does anyone know how to get the DVD Display to change
from Day display to Night automatically. Its currently set on 'Auto' in
the DVD set up screen, but that doesen't work.

Actually its not truly Auto as it has no sensors to determine whether its light or dark. It is linked to your headlights. If the setting is on auto and you turn on your headlights, the screen will dim, and vice versa. Hope this helps.

But it that doesn't work, check your Max Brightness button (on the left hand side of the dash) If this is set on "Max" it will override the the Auto setting.

Also note that the "Max" button works as a toggle--hit it once to maximize brightness (and overcome the Auto setting) and hit it again to switch back to how it was. This feature is really useful at dusk when you need to have your lights on but when it's not quite dark enough to want your dash lights dimmed.

Why is it retarded? Seems like a better solution than a light sensor would be, for several reasons: (1) No light sensor to break; (2) Whether you want your Navi and dash lights dimmed is a subjective (personal) judgment; (3) It seems reasonably logical that the average person is more likely to want the Night mode only when it's dark enough for headlights, so linking it to the headlights makes sense; (4) For the occasional situation (rainy days and such) where you have your lights on but want to override the switch to Night mode, having a button that acts as a toggle is a convenient way to do it.
