Question DVD to NAV Conversion Function Question

So I went to my local stereo installer to talk about adding video into my new TL. Here is the scenario.

1. Drop down 10.2 Alpine Screen
2. Alpine DVD player in the glovebox
3. Rear camera integrated
4. DVD feed to NAV screen

So here's the question:

Is there a way to set up any of the video converters out there (Dom's, and others) to provide the rear camera to ALWAYS interrupt the video screen? Whether the toggle is on the DVD input or the NAV input, I want the camera to interrupt when the car is put into reverse.

My installer says it can't be done using the video converter he has, but I told him I am almost positive it can be done.

Any insight would be tremendous. If Dom's can do it, I see the group buy was extended for about a week more.

Thanks for the help!

Steve

Call and talk to Dom. He will answer your questions.

This is how the converter works. You don't need to do anything extra to achieve this.
Can you ask your installer what model of a DVD player he is going to use anf how will it fit in the glove box. It seems to me that the glove box is not large enough for a player.

Rear camera integrated should be easy and seemless. My roomate has a 2004 MDX and everytime he puts in in reverse the screen automatically changes.
Check the MDX forum.

streese,

if you buy Dom's unit, the camera feed will ALWAYS override anything you have on your factory screen, whether it is the navigation map or playing a dvd. If you've got the camera hooked up to the reverse lights (or by a switch), as long as the camera has power, the feed will show up on the screen.
