DVD Disc reading error

Hello,
I get the following screen which corresponds to frequent reboots of the navigation system and inability to use the controls on the touch screen.
"DVD Disc reading error (unformatted) please consult your dealer."
I've cleaned the DVD drive in the trunk with a CD cleaning disc and I've replaced the navigation DVD with a current OEM disc. I've been told by the Acura dealerships this requires a $700 replacement that is performed by a third party replacing with refurbished parts. This sounds like an expensive and unreliable solution. Has anyone experienced this and has anyone heard of any reasonable solutions?
Thanks

The only options are to try and take it apart and clean it or getting a replacement one on ebay or out of another TL, that is if you dont want to spend several hundred on a replacement drive from the dealer.
