Just a guess here as I am musically challenged but you can't make one. You can buy some at Circuit City dot com but selection is limited.

check my signature and read the Definitive DVD-Audio Guide v2.0...

and if you're using windows, try Adobeman's DVD-A tools...

Yes, you can make DVD-A, Adobeman's DVD-A tools FTW....

BUT, you will need WAV files for good quality.

Also note that some people had much better luck with DVD-R, i used DVD+R and was not able to get it to work after 3 coasters, DVD's were just not readable in the car. Will try DVD-R this weekend, I used adobeman as well as a trial version of DVD-Audio maker or osmething.

From the audiophile focus on sound, there is no difference between
WAV (pcm) and any of the lossless compression systems. These include
FLAC, MLP, WMA-lossless, AAC-lossless, etc. By definition, lossless
means nothing is lost.

So in other words they are identical, FLAC just uses compression to make smaller output files...

...i only mentioned FLAC as being the best because when making your own DVD-A discs, it gives you the less headaches...

from my experience, as well as others that have told me, WAV has too many properties that can get in the way and cause your disc to fail during creation (sampling rate, bit-depth, etc.)...with FLAC it's constant success...i would hate creating 80+ WAV files and then your DVD-A ISO file won't author correctly because of some WAV setting...

like i said, that's just from my experience and anyone else who has mentioned it to me (and then they switched to FLAC)...

^ OK

Get better codecs, use real authoring writing software like magic iso, and you will be fine. Always creates images before burning for optimum success. I've been working with wav for many years...they are by far the easiest to edit...but I guess the free FLAC does provide comfortability level for novice users.

As long as you love what you do, it doesn't matter...enjoy!

^you're talking about Windows software...i use a Mac...

maybe that's why FLAC is easier for me to use..must be a Mac/WAV hate relationship...too bad my authoring software doesn't support AIFF...and i ALWAYS create my ISO image before burning...i'm not that novice...

Can you put FLAC on a DVD-A?
And does Adobeman's software support them?

you don't technically put FLAC, WAV or anything on DVD...you import them into your DVD-A authoring software and it CONVERTS them to the DVD-A files that play in your player...puts them in the AUDIO_TS folder on the DVD-A disc...

so you can use FLAC files, but in the end, they will be converted to the DVD-A format...

and as far as i know, Adobeman's software only supports WAV and maybe MP3...i use a Mac, so i don't know for sure...

I see, but that means you should be able to add more songs since FLAC takes less room, right?
Also I would think Adobeman's software doesn't take mp3s since the car player won't read them if they are on a DVD.

no no...don't worry about the filesize of your FLAC or WAV files...like i said, those files are CONVERTED to the DVD-A format, which makes your FLAC and WAV filesizes obsolete...just because one compresses more than the other (FLAC vs. WAV) doesn't mean you can get more of one format over the other on a disc...to get you started, on average, a 4mb file will give you a 38-40mb file after it has been converted to the DVD-A format...if i remember correctly...you'll get 80 songs easily on a DVD-A disc...so start there...you may get 90...i think i did on my last DVD-A disc...

as for Adobeman's app, it converts your source files to importable WAV files...so it would make sense to accept MP3 files, which would then convert them to DVD-A importable WAV files..meaning you use those WAV files in your DVD-A authoring program and convert them to the DVD-A format...

sorry if this gets you even more confused...i'm just typing as i think of this stuff...

here's a quick DVD-A timeline:
source file (mp3, wav, flac, etc.) -> if not already a WAV or FLAC file, convert your source to one of these formats -> import your FLAC and/or WAV files into your DVD-A authoring program -> create the DVD-A ISO image file using your authoring software -> burn the DVD-A ISO image file using your preferred disc burning program...

Gotcha.
I just thought the WAV file was imported as is, didn't know it was converted.
And I'm usually able to put 97 to 99 songs on my DVD-As
