Dvd-a(audio)

I went to CircuIt City today to see what DVD-A's they had, and they told me that DVD-A's are not being made anymore??? They said that they returned all of their stock to their main warehouse because they were not selling and not being manufactured anymore. can anybody confirm that? Also, if it is not true, where can they be bought an \d about how much are they? Thanks.

They are CLUELESS! They never stocked anything good, and consequently never sold any. I am currently listening to a NIN DualDisc that came out YESTERDAY!

Check the audio section of this forum for lots on DVD-A.

circuit city does not carry any dvd-a in nyc area. went to several and none of the sales ppl there knew what i was talking about. try bestbuy (limited selections however) or Tower Records (if you have one in your area or the website).

Yesterday I was in a Cicuit City for something else and asked the Sales Person where their DVD-A section was - and he didnt even know what it was! He was trying to send me to the DVD movies section. After a while I gave up trying to explain.

Best Buy is much better. Online stores are the best, though.

This happens to me all the time. I would ask the sales person at CC, Bestbuy, FYE, and other stores where they keep the DVD-A. They would have no idea what i'm talking about. They point me to the music videos on DVD. I would try to explain to them what a DVD-A and they would still be clueless. It's funny when the sales person asks another sales person and they both would just stand there thinking what a DVD-A is.

tls02,

Like the others have said, Circuit City is clueless about DVD Audio. If you have a Frye's in your area they usually have a small selection but the best selection is online. Here's some online sites worth checking out for DVD-A:

http://www.dtsentertainment.com/music-featured.php
http://www.highfidelityreview.com/reviews/dvdaudio.asp

CC and BB used to stock them, not in any major quantity and a limited selection at that .... though recently they pulled their entire inventory (in my area anyway). And they are clueless as to what they were. Fry's has a few, but their sales people? Best bets are the online services such as Digital Eyes, DVD Empire, Buy DVD Now, DVD Planet, Acoustic Sounds, and AIX Records. Hope these links help.

For those of you who are looking for current artists, they're few and far between. Record companies decide who, what, where, and when.

99WDP, you beat me to it! You read my mind, Cool!

Yep, same thing up here in the Pacific Northwest. Circ City did have a few DVD-As, but they pulled them because they said they were not selling. The truth is they didn't know what they were. BB has a few. Accoustic Sounds website lists about 300 selections.

Circuit city has pulled ALL DVD-As from their stores. Available online with them only, but if you're going that direction there's better places to order from.

It's GREAT. The videos are very bizarre! But what would you expect.

The sound is excellent. There are sections where the audio is only in the front 3 speakers, then the rears explode with sound! It's quite impressive.

Other spots on the disc fully utilize all corners of the soundfield. I would say that if you like NIN, or like this type of music, it's a must buy. Make sure you put the DVD side up, or you'll just get the stereo CD.
